Fylde RFC - 1st XVs from 1919 to date - Still quite a few missing.

Over the years, I've collected many Fylde Rugby Union team photographs.  Most of them have been extracted from the Lytham St Annes Express but the more recent team photos are courtesy of Chris Farrow.  The photos are best viewed on a laptop/PC.                 Late 2022, I was sat in the Lytham Archives on Bannister Street browsing through 1930 editions of the Lytham St Annes Express when the above headline jumped off the page. A headline that if seen today would rightly make national and perhaps international news. July 9 th , 2023, marks the 93 rd anniversary of one of St Annes’ worst tragedies. It may also have been one of the worst beach drownings in the history of the United Kingdom. Up until recently, I was completely unaware of this tragedy. I suspect that I am not the only one. Since that time, I’ve conducted further research from the newspapers of the day and the internet. This has only increased my interest in the circumstances that surrounded the drownings. Walking the Moss - June 2nd 2021

                                  -------------------------------------------------------------------------- For those interested, here’s a ‘photo walk’ of Marton Moss undertaken in early June 2021. This is my favourite summer solo walk and previously, I’ve been reluctant to post it, firstly because I expect that it may be on the edge of legality and secondly, for half the walk I’ve never bumped into another soul.  However, with the new road across the Moss on the horizon, I don’t expect that anybody will soon be able to walk it in the near future, legally or otherwise, so I’ve recorded it for posterity. It’s highly likely that many have not seen a number of these views previously. You have to be agile to do this walk as there are two stiles to clamber over and it’s not recommended for dogs and small children. As per usual, it begins and ends with the Shovels.
